Horsin' Around and Waiting for Babies
The foaling stall is ready. The count down has begun. Our first foal of the year is due May 15th, according to the calculation for the mythical "Average Mare". But since when does any mare consider herself average?
La Hija Ultima thinks she is pretty special - and we tend to agree with her.
She thinks she is being pampered - as she so rightly deserves! She doesn't know it is simply good care and nutrition to help insure a healthy foal.
Daily grooming. Standing back to check out the growth and shape of her belly. Keeping on eye on the size and shape of her udder. Daily turnout in the pasture for green grass, fresh air and exercise.
Alma is very special too and is also getting extra attention. Since this will be her first baby, we'll need to keep an extra sharp eye on her as her June 17th due date gets closer.
All of this will be keeping us close to home the next few weeks. But we have had two wonderful outings already this spring and I've included some pictures for your enjoyment.
April 5th Poker Ride at Farragut State Park - Athol, Idaho
The weather was cold and windy, but riders and horses all seemed to enjoy the trail and the obstacle course.
The support crews were full of good humor and encouragement - even tho' they were probably feeling colder than the riders were.

April 26th Breed Showcase, Open Show and Horse Sale
Mission Valley Arena- Spokane, Washington
This was the first year Paso Fino horses were included in this annual event which helps to mark the start of a wide variety of summer horse events in the Inland Northwest. Our horses and riders presented a wonderful cross section of the variety and versatility of their horses and received some first and second place awards. It was a beautiful day and a great audience was on hand to show their appreciation for the beautiful horses on display and some that were also offered for sale.
